Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Jos Buttler was the hero of his franchise’s victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022 on May 27, 2022, as he hit his 4th century this season, and put RR into the finals of the tournament.

Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) got underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad. Sanju Samson of RR won the toss and chose to bowl first. Both the teams came into this critical encounter with unchanged playing XIs.

RCB didn’t have a good time on the middle as they found it hard to score runs against a tight RR bowling unit. Virat Kohli fell for 7 runs and captain Faf du Plessis made 25 runs. Runs came with much effort for RCB as Rajat Patidar (58) hit 4 fours and 3 sixes and Glenn Maxwell made 25 in 13 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four.

For RR, Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy were the best picks of bowlers. Prasidh picked 3/22, while Obed McCoy took 3/23. Trent Boult also took the wicket of dangerous Glenn Maxwell, as RCB finished with 157/9 in 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royals started off belligerently as 16 runs came off the first over bowled by Mohammed Siraj, with Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting two fours and 1 six. Jaiswal fell for 21 runs to Josh Hazlewood.

But Buttler found the fifth gear early on and kept the pressure on the pedal. Sanju Samson made 23 runs before becoming Wanindu Hasaranga’s victim and Devdutt Padikkal made 9 runs. But Jos Buttler continued his assault and completed an almost one-man demolition job.

Buttler finished on 106* in 60 balls with 10 fours and 6 sixes to his name, as RR won the match with 11 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand. They have reached the IPL 2022 final, their first visit to the summit clash since the 2008 IPL when they won their only title.

RR will now face Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2022 final which will also be played in Ahmedabad on May 29, Sunday.

The Twitterverse erupted as soon as Jos Buttler hit his 4th century in this IPL and helped RR get into the final.

Absolutely dominating performance by Rajasthan Royals in all the departments. Jos Butler scored 106 runs out of 161 runs scored by Rajasthan. Tough luck for RCB fans, yet again. #RCBvsRR #TATAIPL2022 pic.twitter.com/KMpPNYmyHg

Buttler’s 4th 💯 at a 4th different venue this season takes the first champions Rajasthan in a final against debutants Gujarat. A win set up equally by their pacemen when everyone expected their spinners to fire. Maybe they will in a fitting tribute to Shane Warne on 29th May!
