Autopack has worked with the Perivale site of Petrow foods for the supply and service of a unique capping solution.

It was manufactured and modified to apply a twist off metal cap to a glass jar and plastic PET caps, supplied into the food service sector.

The machine provided was a single head inline capping solution, producing speeds of 35 PPM and could be adapted to run a wide variety of containers and lids with minimal adjustment and loss in production down time.

The Tedelta CAL-101-TR is designed to adapt to small production but with maximum efficiency, providing great flexibility, automated turret height adjustment, automatic cap positioning and feeding system designed for individual cap and is described as operator friendly with low maintenance requirements allowing total work autonomy.

Autopack said the uniqueness in the solution was that the machine supplied was capable of two types of caps; a plastic screw cap as well as a metal twist off cap for the glass jars, under normal circumstances this would be completed on two machines but Autopack were able to supply a solution which was capable of both, providing the customer with increased production speeds, a smaller footprint to maximise space in the factory.

Peter Batchelor, group engineering manager, Petrow Food Group, said: “The machinery itself was fit for purpose and met the remit requested by us from the outset and performed well, meeting all expectations.”
