High-speed liquid and powder packaging machines for pharma

Uflex, one of the largest providers of flexible packaging in India, launched its SP-L automatic stick pack machine for liquid and paste packaging during the CPhI and P-Mec exhibition in Greater Noida. Other machines on display included MT 1200 multi-track machine, form fill and seal machine, VN 900 flameproof vacuum nitrogen flushing and sealing machine.

Talking about the newly launched machine, Sachin Dahake, deputy general manager of Marketing, Uflex, said, “The new machine for stick packs can pack liquids and powders. It is a good machine for the pharma industry because most of its powder products are packaged in stick packs.” Most of the machines displayed on the company’s stand were designed for pharma packaging applications in sachet form with a maximum speed of 1200 sachets per minute. Dahake mentioned that the form fill and seal machine from Uflex can pack any powder, granule or liquid in flexible laminate pouches in sizes ranging from 250 milligrams to 5 kilograms. “This machine can pack liquid and powder products in five different sizes starting from 250 milligrams – a minimal quantity referred to as a unit dose in the pharma industry.” Speaking about the show, Dahake said, “This is our third participation at the show. The exhibition is good for the pharma industry. However, this hall did not see much footfall in comparison to the other halls. The last edition of the show was much better in terms of footfall. The organizers need to address this concern and maybe create better connectivity with the other halls.”

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.
